Orange Watermelon Coolers

Ah, I can finally feel those long summer nights getting closer. You know, where the sun doesn’t set until 9 or 10 pm? The nights when you may leave the windows open to feel the warm breeze while you sleep? And the fun summer parties or get-togethers?

I’m not much of a party animal, but my family has the occasional cookout. This Orange Watermelon Cooler recipe is the perfect drink to take to a summer party or just for a fun treat to cool down.

You only need 3 ingredients: watermelon, oranges, and sparkling water. What’s even better, all the ingredients can be stretched out into other snacks and beverages throughout the week (so you won’t have a bunch of wasted leftovers). You will need a few “fancy” kitchen gadgets: a citrus juicer and a melon baller. Both can be found at any store with kitchen supplies for ~$10 or less (together!).

Speaking of summer, guess what fruit is your new best friend? Watermelon! Summer and watermelon go together like a campfire with vegan marshmallows 🙂

Ingredients (serves 4):

  • 1/2 watermelon
  • 4 lbs bag of navel oranges
  • 12 oz of sparkling water

  1. Use a melon-baller to make watermelon balls out of the 1/2 watermelon
  2. Place melon balls into a sealable container and freeze overnight
  3. Using a citrus juicer, juice all oranges* and pour juice into pitcher
  4. After melon balls are completely frozen, add to glasses (see picture)
  5. Fill up glasses 1/2 with orange juice
  6. Fill the remaining half with cold sparkling water

Give this recipe a whirl and let me know what you and your friends/family think in the comment section below!

*I used a fine mesh strainer to remove most of the pulp from my orange juice but you can leave as much pulp as you like.

  1. Why have I never mixed watermelon and orange juice?? Need to try this!
